THE ONESIGHT ESSILORLUXOTTICA FOUNDATION WITH OAKLEY AND KYLIAN MBAPPÉ CHAMPION THE IMPORTANCE OF VISION HEALTH AMONGST YOUTH IN MADRID
The event brought together children from local underserved communities and Inspired By KM for a surprise meet-up with the sports legend. An afternoon fueled by education, inspiration and the drive to never lose sight of their dreams.

Joining forces for a third time, Oakley® and French football star, Kylian Mbappé, continued their partnership with OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation (OSELF) to bring essential eye care and inspiration to the youths in Madrid. The event brought together 50 children from underserved communities, along with 5 young members from Kylian Mbappé’s Inspired by KM (IBKM) association, to learn about the importance of vision health.
This event built upon the work OSELF has completed to-date, providing access to vision care to over 1 billion people, including to 2,000 children from underserved communities in Mbappé’s home city of Paris. This year, bridging his home turfs, the event addressed the increasing myopia prevalence in Spain and made strides towards OSELF’s goal to reduce uncorrected poor vision by a generation (2050).

Together, we share the conviction that no child should see their dreams limited by invisible barriers. By joining forces from Paris to Madrid, we strive to break down these barriers, educate, and raise awareness among young people about the importance of their visual health so that they can learn, thrive, and reach their full potential.”
In Spain, myopia is prevalent in 19% of children aged 5-7 with projections estimating that number will increase to 30.2% driven by the increased use of digital devices. The work of the foundation is essential to stress the importance of eye care, ensure vision access, and with the help of Kylian Mbappé, help children realize and unleash their full potential, both on and off the field so that they may never lose sight of their goals.
As part of the program, on the day, children were provided with a preliminary test to assess their vision, were registered for a full eye exam to be offered prescription glasses if needed, and were also given a pair of sunglasses to shield their eyes on the field of play. All the attending children had the opportunity to hear from Kylian Mbappé about his own experiences as a child and played sports all together. The afternoon highlighted Kylian Mbappé’s continued efforts to support the local youth community, a value he shares with Oakley and OSELF.
