OAKLEY® BECOMES THE OFFICIAL EYEWEAR & HELMET PARTNER OF THE GIRO D’ITALIA, PUSHING THE PACE AT THE PRESTIGIOUS CYCLING RACE

Innovation leader brand Oakley partners with Giro’s 106th Edition with the promise to reach new heights together in cycling

For over one hundred years, the world’s top cyclists have gathered in Italy for a chance to become part of history by competing in a three-week race that tests both their physical and mental strength. As one of the three Grand Tours, Giro d’Italia owns a special place in the cycling calendar, and in the hearts of enthusiasts across the globe.

Starting this year, Oakley® will officially partner with RCS Sport, organizer of the famed race. This brings together two brands with a rich history in the sporting world with a shared mission to help cycling reach new heights.

“This partnership aligns the race with one of the most revered brands in cycling,” said Paolo Bellino, Managing Director at RCS Sport. “Oakley has established itself as a leader in performance eyewear and helmets for cyclists while also building an ecosystem that brings together many of the sport’s biggest stars”.

“Giro d’Italia truly encapsulates both the beauty and pain of the sport that any cyclist can immediately connect to,” said Corey Hill, Global Sport Marketing SVP at Oakley. “Cycling is part of Oakley’s DNA: this is a proud moment for the entire Oakley team, to show how we celebrate the sport of cycling the Oakley way. We’re wishing in bocca al lupo to all riders and look forward to welcoming fans to Italy for a race unlike any other.”

In May, teams from all over the world will descend upon Italy for a chance to become part of history. The 2023 Giro d’Italia will total 3,489.2 kilometers, featuring a combination of flat roads, time trials and iconic climbs. Riders will hope to persevere through the grueling 21 stages while donning the pink jersey and eventually raising the Trofeo Senza Fine after crossing the finish line in Rome.

Twenty-two teams will compete in the 2023 Giro d’Italia, bringing together Olympic medalists, world champions and rising stars in the sport for a celebration of cycling. Team Oakley will be represented at this year’s race by three teams including Soudal - Quick-Step Team, Alpecin–Deceuninck and newest Team Oakley roster’s addition, Team Jumbo-Visma. A large contingent of individual riders from Team Oakely will also compete, including Remco Evenepoel and Primoz Roglic among others.

Riders from Team Oakley will highlight the brand’s line of high-performance cycling eyewear, led by Encoder Strike and Kato.

  • Blending functional needs of today’s cyclists with Oakley’s rich heritage in the sport, Encoder features a sport-driven lens shape that offers coverage, style, and additional ventilation for optimal airflow.

  • Kato was born from 45 years of innovation to change the eyewear industry forever. Research, testing and a singular aesthetic enabled by PhysioMorphic Geometry have helped Kato literally changing the face of sport.
