BRAIN DEAD & OAKLEY PRÄSENTIEREN DAS: OAKLEY FACTORY TEAM

Brain Dead und Oakley kündigen die Gründung des hochgelobten Oakley Factory Teams an. Brain Dead beteiligt sich an der Entwicklung von neuen, innovativen Produkten über das kreative Ökosystem von Oakley. Als Forschungs- und Entwicklungsabteilung für konzeptionelle Entwürfe und Experimente der Spitzenklasse wird das Oakley Factory Team die Grenzen unserer gemeinsamen Mission mithilfe von Produkt- und Multimedia-Storytelling-Medien erweitern.   

Die Zielsetzung ist klar: Die traditionsreiche Innovations-, Experimentier- und Disruptionskultur von Oakley soll mithilfe der DNA früherer Produkte und deren Integration in neue Modelle über die Brain Dead-Designmatrix ausgebaut werden.  

So erläuterte der Brain Dead-Gründer Kyle Ng: „Das Oakley Factory Team verkörpert die Verbindung von Kunst, Design, Experimentieren und Funktionalität. Wir betrachten das Oakley Factory Team als experimentellen Prototyp, der es ermöglicht, unsere Vorstellungen zu verwirklichen.   

Brain Dead hat schon immer die Grenzen der Avantgarde durch Experimentieren erweitert. Wir versuchen, die Grundlagen der ursprünglichen Konzepte und Ideen von Oakley zu übernehmen und sie in unsere neue Welt zu übertragen. Einige der ersten Entwürfe von Oakley, wie z.B. Flesh, wirkten früher so futuristisch, dass sie erst jetzt modern wirken. Von den an Funktionalität und Leistung gestellten Anforderungen ausgehend, möchte das Oakley Factory Team den Horizont erweitern und frühere Ideen von Oakley verwirklichen.“  

The first project from the Oakley Factory Team, Brain Dead and Oakley is the re-launch of the iconic Oakley Flesh model, coming in three new styles including two new limited edition designs and a clean line design, the Oakley Mainline. Introduced in the early 2000s, Flesh embodies the rugged, biological and futuristic look that Oakley still conveys its design concept today.  

Brian Takumi , VP, Brand Spirit and Creative says, “As with anything, there's always an original. And at the same time, there is always an opportunity to develop further. We are very excited to be going through this creative process with Brain Dead, where we select something quirky from our archive to remake it in line with today's zeitgeist. At Oakley we are scientists and engineers as much as we are designers. Therefore, every element of each product is carefully checked. The result is a reinterpretation of Flesh in a neo-futuristic design that symbolizes evolution and progress.”  

To bring Flesh into the modern age, the Oakley Factory team reviewed every aspect of the shoe model to ensure the reinterpretation lived up to the originally introduced model. Available in two colorways, Ice and Lime/Blue, the shoe features a Phylon layer alongside the original rubber midsole. This makes Flesh lighter and more comfortable to wear in everyday life. The design team kept the open chamber in the sole, which favors compression and cushioning when walking. The upper has also been modified with oval gel applications, which make the already modern design appear even more futuristic and creatively use the energy of the last step taken for the next step.  

The Brain Dead x Oakley Factory Team Dead Flesh will be available April 19th via wearebraindead.com and in select stores: BRAIN DEAD STUDIOS FAIRFAX | BRAIN DEAD STUDIOS HARAJUKU.  

Alongside these limited editions, Oakley is also releasing the brand's flagship model, the Oakley Factory Team Flesh in Sand/Blue. This model embodies the shoe in its purest and most original form. The sand-colored upper made of brushed calfskin with embroidered Oakley logo and the padded blue neoprene sole ensure a high level of comfort.  

The Oakley Factory Team Flesh in Sand/Blue will be available May 3rd through Oakley.com in NA and EMEA and at select Oakley stores: MARINA | SHIBUYA | CADORNA | COVENT | 5TH AVENUE | 3rd STREET, as well as at the following e-commerce destinations: wearebraindead.com | DSMLA | DSMNY | DSML | DSMG | HBX (Hypebeast) | Winery | SENSE | Sneakersnstuff | Slam Jam | End Clothing | Goodhood | Pilgrim Surf+Supply.
